Past Events:

February 12: The San Francisco-East Bay Chapter Networking Luncheon was held at Bucca di Beppo in San Francisco on Saturday, February 12, at 11:30am.

January 29, 2011: Chapter members met for a group tour at the new Cathedral of Christ the Light, 2121 Harrison Street, Oakland, on Saturday, January 29, at 3pm. New Kappa Pamela Eiselman (Holy Names, CA, '10) is a docent at the Cathedral.

December 4: Chapter members attended an Advent Retreat by Rev. Dominic Briese, OP, at St. Albert's Priory in Oakland.

October 30: The Chapter hosted a planning meeting at Holy Names University. Kappas from San Francisco, Silicon Valley and the East Bay were in attendance. Suggestions were made to better publicize KGP to students and faculty at Holy Names University, to move up the nomination process at Holy Names and to encourage more eligible candidates to accept the nomination.

The Chapter is grateful to Kathleen Dunlap for once again coordinating our annual See's Candy sale. Proceeds from the sale which concluded November 22 and donations from chapter members raised over $400 that will be used for grocery store gift cards and Christmas presents for families with children through the Christmas Adopt-a-Family project at St. Mary's Center in downtown Oakland. Our thanks also to Sheryl Springer, Western Regent, for purchasing, wrapping and delivering the gifts.

April 29: Anne Dunlap-Kahren, KGP Liaison, and Kathleen Dunlap presented the Saint Catherine Medal to Jonathan Allen andwelcomed the new honorees from the 2010 class at Holy Names University in Oakland during the Alpha Delta Awards ceremony.

 

Volunteer and Giving:

Sheryl Springer is collecting adult paperbacks for the Literacy Project. 

BART tickets with small remaining sums can be donated to be given to the Next Step Learning Center for assistance with their funding:

Other News and Notes:

The present officers will continue their duties for another year: Betty Hopkins, President, Sheryl Springer, Vice-President, Anne Fleming, Secretary, and Barbara Beaulieu, Treasurer.

The Chapter voted to increase chapter dues to $10 to cover increased mailing costs and to be more flexible in their donations to St. Mary’s Center and the Next Step Learning Center.
