Eligibility

Apportionment:

The number of candidates which a college or university may choose from the graduating class in any given year is limited to 10% of the number of students receiving Baccalaureate degrees; and, in addition, no more than 15% of the number of students receiving Graduate degrees. Only one alumni membership may be conferred in any given year by an affiliate. In extraordinary circumstances, affiliates may apply to the National Office for an exception to this rule.

Baccalaureate Membership:

To be eligible for baccalaureate membership an individual must graduate from a regionally accredited four-year college or university which has established an affiliation with Kappa Gamma Pi, and must meet the following requirements. In addition, no more than 10% of the graduating class may be elected to membership.
bullet By the end of sufficient coursework, they will have attained a point-standing required for graduation with honors from their respective colleges. Membership becomes effective upon notification to the National Office by the affiliated college.
bullet They have demonstrated a good record of service activities.
bullet They have shown outstanding leadership in extracurricular activities.
bullet They are currently matriculated students of the college.
bullet They desire to be members of the Society.
bullet They willingly accept the responsibility for individual leadership in church, civic and/or Kappa activities.

Post-Graduate Membership:

To be eligible for post-graduate membership an individual must receive a graduate degree from an affiliated college or university. These students need not have received their baccalaureate degrees from Kappa affiliates. Candidates must also meet the following requirements. In addition, no more than 15% of the graduating class may be elected to membership.
bullet At completion of Masters or Doctoral programs, they have demonstrated exceptional scholastic achievement and outstanding leadership abilities.
bullet They have demonstrated a good record of service activities.
bullet They are currently matriculated students of the graduate division of the affiliated college.
bullet They desire to be members of the Society.
bullet They willingly accept the responsibility for individual leadership in church, civic and/or Kappa activities.

Alumni Membership:

To be eligible for alumni membership the individual must be a graduate of a Kappa affiliate who was ineligible for nomination to Kappa at the time of their graduation (due to changing membership guidelines, or because their college or university affiliated after the student graduated) but who meet the following requirements.
bullet They graduated with honors from their respective Kappa-affiliated college.
bullet They have demonstrated a good record of service activities.
bullet They have shown outstanding leadership during and/or since their college years.
bullet They desire to be members of the Society.
bullet They willingly accept responsibility for individual leadership in church, civic and/or Kappa activities.

Administrative Membership:

To be eligible for administrative membership the individual must be a supportive administrator (i.e., president, vice president, dean) of a Kappa affiliate. In addition, they must meet the following requirements.
bullet They must have earned an advanced degree.
bullet They have demonstrated a good record of service activities.
bullet They desire to be members of the Society.
bullet They willingly accept responsibility for individual leadership in church, civic and/or Kappa activities.

Nomination:

An administrator of the affiliated college or university selects members and sends in the nomination forms to the KGP National Office. Either the administrator or a representative of KGP should inform candidates about the nature of Kappa Gamma Pi as a service-oriented graduate honor society.
